Lawyer: Crittenton to surrender on murder warrant

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

An attorney says former NBA player Javaris Crittenton plans to surrender to authorities to face charges in a deadly shooting in Atlanta.

Crittenton was most recently with the Washington Wizards. The NBA suspended him after he and teammate Gilbert Arenas said they brought guns into the locker room.

Attorney Brian Steel said Monday that Crittenton will be leaving Los Angeles and should arrive in Atlanta early Tuesday.

Steel says Crittenton is innocent. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported details of the planned surrender.

Atlanta police earlier obtained a murder warrant for Crittenton in the Aug. 19 shooting of 22-year-old Jullian Jones. Police say Jones was walking with two men when she was shot and they believe one of the men with her was the target.
