Laudrup takes charge of Swansea

Swansea City confirmed on Friday that Michael Laudrup has been named the new manager at the club, joining the Swans on a two-year deal.

Laudrup takes over for Brendan Rodgers, who left Swansea in May for Liverpool, and he is already looking forward to the experience of managing in the Premier League.

"I've spoken to the chairman, and I'm very pleased to sign for Swansea City," Laudrup told the club's website.

"It's going to be a new experience for me and I'm really looking forward to it. Everyone knows the style of football Swansea play, and it suits my way of thinking."

The 48-year-old Laudrup has previously managed at Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Real Mallorca, and he inherits a team that finished 11th in its first season in the Premiership last term.
