Alabama running back Eddie Lacy capped an impressive junior season by earning the BCS Championship MVP with a 157-yard, two-touchdown performance in a 42-14 rout of Notre Dame.

Lacy finished the game with 140 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries while adding 17 yards and a score on a pair of receptions against a Fighting Irish defense that entered the contest allowing an average of just 92.4 rushing yards and 10.3 points per game.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound back opened the scoring and sparked a streak of 21 unanswered points by the Crimson Tide with a pummeling 20-yard touchdown run less than three minutes into the first quarter.

His 11-yard touchdown catch, in which he grabbed a short pass and spun around a pair of defenders before leaping across the goal line, staked Alabama to a 28-0 halftime lead and the Crimson Tide never looked back.

He led Alabama's offensive outburst with 96 yards on 12 first-half carries.

Lacy finished his junior campaign with 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground to go along with 189 receiving yards and two scores.
