Most golfers believe the path to the British Open title starts a week early in Scotland.

Jordan Spieth is content to stay at home and continue his Grand Slam push at the tournament that launched his PGA Tour career.

Spieth will play this weekend at the John Deere Classic in western Illinois, rather than prepping for St. Andrews by playing the links course at the Scottish Open.

Spieth says he'll have plenty of rest and energy for the British Open. He says his performance in the Quad Cities will have no bearing on his performance next week in Scotland.
