Jones scores 26 and grabs 8 rebounds to lead Tennessee-Martin past Fontbonne 84-58

Bobby Jones finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and five steals to help Tennessee-Martin pull away from Division III Fontbonne 84-58 Wednesday night in nonconference action.

Myles Taylor added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Mike Liabo chipped in with 11 points off the bench for Tennessee-Martin (1-2).

Tennessee-Martin led at halftime 39-36.

After a close first period, the Skyhawks blew the game open in the second half.

The Skyhawks blew the game open after intermission behind 16 points from Jones and 10 from Taylor. The Skyhawks started the second period on a 14-4 run.

Tennesee-Martin outscored the Griffins in the second half 45-22.

The Skyhawks shot 59.4 percent (19 for 32) in the second half compared to the Griffins shooting a dismal 20.8 percent (5 for 24).

Greg Gentry led Fontbonne with 16 points and six assist, but shot just 2 for 15 from the field.
