Johnson out, Martin questionable for Bucs

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without both of their starting defensive ends for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Hours after placing Adrian Clayborn on injured reserve, the Bucs declared fellow pass rusher Michael Johnson out for their Week 2 tilt due to a sprained ankle.

Johnson sustained the injury early in last week's 20-14 Tampa Bay loss at Carolina but played the entire way. However, the offseason acquisition was not able to practice in any of the last three days.

Clayborn was sent to season-ending IR early in the day after reportedly tearing his biceps in the opener.

Running back Doug Martin, meanwhile, has been termed questionable for Sunday's matchup after putting in a second straight limited practice on Friday. The 2012 Pro Bowl selection hurt his left knee against the Panthers and was limited to nine yards on nine carries in the loss.

Guard Logan Mankins (knee) and defensive ends Da'Quan Bowers (abdomen) and William Gholston (shoulder) are also questionable, though all three were listed as full participants in Friday's session.

In addition to Johnson, rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and cornerback Rashaan Melvin have also been ruled out with ankle injuries.
