The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly chosen to promote David Joerger to the head coaching position.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal was one media source to report the hiring Monday night.

Joerger, who has been with the Grizzlies since the 2007-08 season, will take over for Lionel Hollins. The Grizzlies announced on June 10 that Hollins wouldn't return as head coach despite orchestrating the first Western Conference finals appearance in the franchise's 18-year existence.

Joerger started his coaching career as an assistant and eventual head coach of the Dakota Wizards in the Continental Basketball Association. He also coached Cedar Rapids in the USBL and the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the CBA. He rejoined the Wizards in the D-League in 2006-07 and has five minor league championships to his credit as head coach.
