Even with a bogey on his last hole for the second straight day, Jim Furyk is starting to pull away at the Bridgestone Invitational.

Furyk ran off three birdies in a four-hole stretch late in the second round and shot 4-under 66 to build a five-shot lead at Firestone among the early starters. He was at 8-under 132 and led over Graeme McDowell (71), Danny Lee (72) and Henrik Stenson (69).

Jordan Spieth finally broke par for the first time at Firestone. He had a 68 and was six behind.

Furyk has had two chances to win the Bridgestone Invitational. He lost in a seven-hole playoff to Tiger Woods in 2001 and made a double bogey on his final hole in 2012 to lose by one shot to Keegan Bradley.
