The New York Jets signed safety Gerald Alexander to the active roster on Tuesday.
Alexander, 27, was on the active roster for two games for Miami this season before being waived on November 1.
Since coming into the league in 2007 as a second round draft pick of the Detroit Lions, he has appeared in 43 games with Detroit, Jacksonville, Carolina and Miami.
During that time, he has totaled 159 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions and 14 passes defended.
Also on Tuesday, the team signed defensive back Mark LeGree to the practice squad.
