Jets owner: 1st season under Bowles, Maccagnan a good start

NEW YORK (AP) Jets owner Woody Johnson gives his team positive reviews following its first season under coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan, saying ''so far, so good.''

The Jets finished 10-6 but missed the playoffs after losing at Buffalo in the regular-season finale. Still, Johnson says it was a good season, although ''it's not where we want to be.'' He adds that the loss to the Bills still stings, but the franchise now needs to focus on the future.

Johnson was speaking Friday night at Jets House, a Manhattan restaurant the team has converted for two days into a meeting place for fans and current and former players.

The owner is noncommittal, as expected, on re-signing scheduled free agents such as quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.
