Jets' Kane to have shoulder surgery, out 4-6 months

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice announced Friday that forward Evander Kane needs surgery on his shoulder.

The usual timeline for recovery is 4-to-6 months.

Kane, who was placed on injured reserve Thursday, has posted 10 goals and 22 points over 37 games this season.

The 23-year-old veteran was surprisingly scratched from Tuesday's game against the Canucks in his hometown of Vancouver, a decision that was reportedly made due a dress code violation.

Kane has been tied to numerous trade rumors over the past few seasons.
