New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has been medically cleared to resume full baseball activities and run on his surgically repaired left ankle.

Jeter was examined on Thursday in Charlotte, NC, by Dr. Robert Anderson, the same man who performed the initial surgery after Jeter fractured his left ankle in last year's American League Championship Series. Dr. Anderson determined that the injury is healing.

The 13-time All-Star played in 159 games last year, his most since 2005, and batted .316 with 15 homers and 58 runs batted in. He led the American League with 216 hits and finished seventh in the AL MVP voting.
