Jays OF Snider out with wrist injury; Farrell has pneumonia

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Travis Snider's season is most likely over after being diagnosed with tendinitis in his right wrist.

Snider underwent an MRI on Wednesday and further examination on Thursday did not change the prognosis, that he should rest the wrist for 4-to-6 weeks. Toronto's regular season concludes on September 28.

Over two call-ups with the Jays this season, the 23-year-old hit .225 with three home runs, 14 doubles and 30 RBI in 49 games. He was batting .327 with four homers and 42 RBI in 61 games at Triple-A Las Vegas.

In addition, the Jays announced on Friday that manager John Farrell has been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Farrell left Thursday night's 9-6 home loss to the Kansas City Royals after having muscle pain below his rib cage on the left side of his torso. He was released from a local hospital and is expected to return later in the day as the Jays begin a three-game set with Tampa Bay at Rogers Centre.
