Jacob Iati scored 24 points — including two free throws with 4 seconds remaining — and Mike Black added 16 points as Albany (N.Y.) beat Missouri-Kansas City 62-59 Saturday in a nonconference matchup.

Iati shot 6 of 8 from the field, including three 3-pointers.

Albany (3-1) led 11-5 following a 3-pointer from Iati. But UMKC's Estan Tyler knocked down a trey of his own to help the Kangaroos go on a 21-12 run and take a 26-23 lead into halftime.

Albany opened the second half on a 9-2 run to retake the lead and quickly pushed that advantage to 10, 45-35, behind another trey from Iati. Kirk Korver, however, hit a 3-pointer of his own to cut the deficit to 45-38.

UMKC (1-2) held Albany without a field goal over the final 7:01 to draw within 1, 60-59, with 4 seconds left.

Iati's free throws sealed the win.
