Istomin ousts Gasquet in Sydney International

Denis Istomin of Uzbekstan beat third-seeded Richard Gasquet of France 6-4, 7-6 (4) on Thursday to move into the semifinals of the Sydney International.

Istomin will next play Finland's Jarkko Nieminen, who had a 6-3, 6-3 win over American Bobby Reynolds.

In women's semifinals, No. 2-ranked Petra Kvitova was playing French Open champion Li Na later Thursday, and Agnieszka Radwanska was taking on No. 3-ranked Victoria Azarenka.
