Inverness, Dundee United share the spoils

Inverness, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - William McKay and Keith Watson traded first-half goals on Sunday as Inverness and Dundee United battled to a 1-1 stalemate at the Caledonian Stadium.

Coming off a 2-1 New Year's Day defeat against Ross County, McKay got the home side off to a flying start when he opened the scoring just five minutes into the contest.

But Watson responded with an equalizer for Dundee United just five minutes later to put the sides back on level terms.

It remained deadlocked until Inverness was handed an opportunity to take the lead in the 63rd minute as Nick Ross stepped to the spot with a penalty kick, but he failed to convert and the clubs were forced to settle for a point apiece.

The result sees both sides remain fourth and fifth in the Scottish Premier League on 34 points.
