Mark Ingram rushed for a touchdown in his 3.

Ingram, the former Heisman Trophy winner out of Alabama, carried the ball six times for 23 yards, while Chris Taylor added a four-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the only points of the second half.

The Saints' Drew Brees played three series and was limited to four throws, completing only one for six yards. Chase Daniel saw the bulk of snaps behind center and totaled 129 yards on 13-of-21 efficiency in the victory.

Alex Smith also had a slow start for San Francisco, finishing with 10 yards on 2-of-7 throws. Colin Kaepernick, the 49ers' second-round pick out of Nevada, went 9-of-19 through the air with 117 yards and two interceptions.
