Indy's unusual schedule has teams working OT to make switch from road course to ovals

Published February 05, 2015

Some IndyCar teams will face their biggest challenge on Saturday night.

In less than 24 hours, crews will scramble to convert cars from a road-course setup to an oval setup.

Teams will take different approaches.

Michael Andretti's team will ship in four new cars for his full-time drivers and only have to work on one of the five cars trying to make the May 25 Indianapolis 500 — the car that Kurt Busch will drive.

The teams owned by Chip Ganassi and Roger Penske are looking at a different scenario — needing a combined total of 12 to 24 hours to make the necessary changes.
