Indiana's Phillips sidelined with torn meniscus

Published January 13, 2015

Sports Network

Indiana Fever guard Erin Phillips is expected to miss the first 4-to-6 weeks of the WNBA season due to a lateral meniscus tear in her right knee.

The five-year veteran from Australia played a big part of the Fever's championship run in 2012 when she averaged 6.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists during her second year with the team. She started nine of 10 games in last season's playoff run.

Phillips' injury is the latest in a series of tough ones for the Fever. Indiana already will start the season without guard Jeanette Pohlen and center Jessica Davenport. Pohlen is out due to a torn ACL sustained in Game 2 of last year's WNBA Finals. Davenport has a stress fracture of her left tibia.
