Indianapolis sits out 1st day of NFL draft, waits to make 1st selection at No. 59

Published February 05, 2015

The Indianapolis Colts started Thursday without a first-round draft pick — and finished it without one, too.

General manager Ryan Grigson stayed out of the busy draft day trade market and opted to hold onto all five of his selections over the next two days.

Grigson sent Indy's first-round pick to Cleveland in September to acquire running back Trent Richardson, the No. 3 overall pick in 2012.

Indy is expected to make its first draft pick Friday at No. 59, late in the second round. The Colts also have a third-round pick Friday at No. 90 overall. The Colts will make three picks Saturday — the final day of the draft.

The Colts are looking to fill voids at safety and center and could be looking for another receiver, too.
