In wide-ranging session, Jets owner Woody Johnson talks Geno, Rex and 1-3 start

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson says Geno Smith shouting an expletive at a heckler last weekend was "unacceptable," but insists he can still be "a franchise quarterback" despite his struggles.

Johnson met with the media Thursday for the first time since the offseason and touched on several issues. He says he's not happy with the team's 1-3 start and would prefer the Jets were 4-0 and adds that the team and coaches have "fallen short."

Still, Johnson wouldn't rule out the chance that coach Rex Ryan could return next season even if the team misses the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

He adds that the team is going to let the domestic violence case of practice squad player Quincy Enunwa play out "to see what happens."
