Ill Casey withdraws from Players Championship

Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Casey withdrew from The Players Championship before Friday's second round because of an illness, the PGA Tour said.

Casey opened with a 7-over 79 at TPC Sawgrass on Thursday, tied for the worst score among the players who finished the first round.

The 37-year-old Englishman had been on a roll, posting consecutive top-10 finishes at the Houston Open, Masters and Match Play Championship.
