Hull to Blackhawks: Savor the Stanley Cup moment

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Not until decades later, when his son Brett won it all, did Bobby Hull finally hoisted a Stanley Cup.

He raised it at a golf event, and his shoulders were so bad that he needed help lifting it.

So as the Chicago Blackhawks closed in on their first championship in 49 years, Hull had some advice. He says the Blackhawks should cherish the moment and "take advantage of it now" because they might not have another chance.

They're one win away heading into Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals at Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Hull says he couldn't help but think back to when he and Stan Mikita led the way in 1961. He was a "22-year-old, snotty-nosed kid" who thought that it would be one of many championships.
