Hoosiers announce DE David Kenney takes leave of absence to deal with personal matters

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

Indiana defensive end David Kenney has left the team to deal with personal matters.

Coach Kevin Wilson made the announcement Friday, less than a week after the Hoosiers started practicing. Wilson did not elaborate on the reason why Kenney left the team other than to say that he "needs a break from Indiana University." Wilson said it was unclear when Kenney would return and that school officials would have no additional comments.

Kenney, a 6-foot-2, 295-pound sophomore, played in seven games and finished with nine tackles and one pass backup. The Indianapolis Pike graduate was a Class 5A all-state selection and played in the 2013 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.
