Hockeywood: Kings celebrate 2nd Cup in 3 years

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Kings hosted a victory parade and rally on Monday, celebrating their second Stanley Cup title in three years with their fans.

On a sun-drenched afternoon, the team boarded double-decker buses and traveled down Figueroa Street to Staples Center. There was one flatbed truck on which captain Dustin Brown, forward Anze Kopitar and goaltender Jonathan Quick rode with the Cup in tow.

The festivities then moved inside the Staples Center, where front-office members and players addressed the spirited crowd.

Such a spectacle seemed fanciful back in April after Los Angeles lost its first three playoff games.

The Kings, however, became the fourth NHL team to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win a postseason series, then survived two more Game 7s before finishing off the New York Rangers at home last Friday on Alec Martinez's double-overtime goal in Game 5 of the final.
