Harvard assistant reportedly choice for Yale football

Yale University has called a news conference for Thursday afternoon to introduce a new head football coach, reportedly former Bulldogs assistant Tony Reno.

The New Haven Register is reporting Reno, a Harvard assistant coach for the last three seasons, is Yale's choice after Connecticut offensive coordinator Don Brown pulled out of the process on Monday.

At Harvard, Reno has served as defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator.

He spent the prior six seasons (2003-2008) working with defensive backs at Yale and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2007. He coached 15 All-Ivy League players at Yale, including five in 2008.

The 1997 graduate of Worcester State (Mass.) also coached there as well as at King's College (Pa.).

Reno would replace Tom Williams, who had a 16-14 record in three seasons at Yale, but resigned last month following questions over his resume and candidacy as a Rhodes Scholar in 1992.
