Hamburg hit with double injury blow

Hamburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Hamburg's survival hopes took another hit on Monday when it was revealed that both Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Zhi Gin Lam will miss time because of injuries suffered over the weekend.

Both players were injured in Hamburg's 3-0 defeat to Schalke on Sunday, and while it is still unclear how much time they will miss, their absence will certainly not help a struggling team that currently resides in the bottom three in the Bundesliga.

On-loan striker Lasogga has netted nine goals in 14 appearances this term, but he suffered a torn muscle in his thigh and had to be withdrawn midway through the first half.

Defender Lam was substituted only seven minutes later with an ankle problem, leaving manager Bert van Marwijk short on options.

The loss is Hamburg's fourth straight in Bundesliga play and leaves the club one point from safety.
