"Grandpa" Plaxico Burress trying to show the kids, Steelers, he's still got it

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Plaxico Burress joked at the beginning of training camp he and New England quarterback Tom Brady were the "grandpas" of the NFL. Burress is ready to show the kids in his meeting room he's still got it.

The 35-year-old finds himself in a unique position in the twilight of his career. Burress is a backup behind Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown and is fighting with several rookies for a spot on the depth chart.

Burress caught just three passes after signing with Pittsburgh last November. He says he's more comfortable now after spending the offseason getting more familiar with offensive coordinator Todd Haley's scheme.

Burress said it's strange to be the old man in the meeting room but says he hopes his perspective will help the youngsters adjust to the NFL.
