A lot of coaches talk about creating a family atmosphere for their football team, but for Al Golden those words are more than lip service.

According to the Miami Herald, Dana Smith, the mother of star cornerback Artie Burns, was in critical condition on Monday after suffering from a heart attack. Upon learning the news a group of Miami coaches, including Golden, went and visited her at local hospital.

It was a touching gesture by the former Hurricanes head coach.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday morning Smith passed away. Once again, the Hurricanes showed their support for Burns and set up a GoFundMe page for him and his family, which was in compliance with the NCAA.
