San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday against the Padres after cutting his right index finger.

Yusmeiro Petit will toe the rubber in place of Cain, making his first start of the season.

Cain, who is 0-3 with a 4.35 ERA, will go winless in April for the second consecutive season after going 0-2 with a 6.49 ERA in the opening month in 2013.

Petit is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in eight games this season out of the bullpen for San Francisco.
