Giants' Cain exits start early

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - San Francisco Giants starter Matt Cain exited Wednesday's game against the Rockies after throwing three hitless innings.

Cain, who recently returned from the disabled list after cutting his finger on a kitchen knife while making a sandwich for a pregame snack last month, exited with an apparent right hamstring strain.

Cain retired nine of the 10 batters he faced, the only blemish coming in the second when he plunked Justin Morneau.

When the bottom of the fourth rolled around, Yusmeiro Petit was on the bump, and Cain was reportedly being tended to in the locker room.
