France left back Patrice Evra transfers from Manchester United to Italian champion Juventus

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

France left back Patrice Evra has completed a transfer from Manchester United to Italian champion Juventus.

Juventus says it is paying United $2 million but that the transfer price will increase to $2.5 million if Juventus qualifies for the 2015-16 Champions League.

The Turin club adds that it signed the 33-year-old Evra to a two-year contract. He spent the past nine seasons with United.

Juventus won Serie A the past three seasons with a three-man defense of Italy players Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. But with Massimiliano Allegri replacing Antonio Conte as coach, the squad could use a four-man backline this season.

Juventus also recently signed forward Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid and has shown interest in Udinese midfielder Roberto Peyrera.
