Former NFL player and Fresno State coach Boone dies

Former NFL player and Fresno State head coach JR Boone passed away in his sleep on Sunday at his home in Selma. He was 86.

In six seasons as a running back and safety with the Bears, Packers and 49ers, Boone rushed for 497 yards and five touchdowns.

Boone was the head football coach of Fresno State from 1973-75 and went 10-24 before retiring in 1975.
