Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

Former New Jersey Devils coach John MacLean has been hired as a television studio analyst for the team's games this season.

MSG Networks announced the hiring Thursday. MacLean replaces Ken Daneyko, who took over for the retired Chico Resch as game analyst.

MacLean will work in the studio for pre- and post-game coverage and intermission reports for home games. He will contribute to MSG Networks' weekly hockey show "Hockey Night Live" throughout the season.

The sixth pick overall in the 1983 NHL entry draft, MacLean played 18 NHL seasons. MacLean was on the coaching staff for the Devils from 2002-2010, serving as head coach for 33 games in 2010 before being hired. He was an assistant coach for the Carolina Hurricanes from December 2011 until the end of last season.
