Flag day; Steelers, Tomlin not concerned despite deluge of penalties

Published February 05, 2015

Associated Press

The Pittsburgh Steelers have plenty to be concerned about heading into Sunday night's game at Carolina. Coach Mike Tomlin isn't worried about his team's alarming number of penalties being one of them.

The Steelers have been flagged 20 times through the season's first two weeks, the third-highest total in the NFL behind New England and San Francisco.

Several of the flags have led directly to opponent scores, including a pair of personal foul penalties last week against Baltimore that set up a second-quarter touchdown.

Tomlin said Tuesday it's still too early to make it a major focus and he's pleased with the way his players have responded to the crackdown on illegal hits.
