Defender Cory Gibbs scored off a cross from Baggio Husidic in the 80th minute to help the Chicago Fire salvage a 2-2 tie with the San Jose Earthqaukes in rainy conditions Saturday night.

The tie extended the Fire's MLS winless streak to nine games, matching the club record set in 2004.

Chicago (1-4-6) last won in late March. San Jose (3-4-4) extended its unbeaten streak to four.

The Earthquakes took a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute on Chris Wondolowski's header.

Wondolowski took a feed in traffic from midfielder Anthony Ampaipitakwong and popped the shot to the right of a diving goalkeeper Sean Johnson for his sixth goal of the season.

San Jose's Ramiro Corrales opened the scoring in the 50th minute, and Dominic Oduro tied it in the 56th.

Chicago beat San Jose on penalty kicks Tuesday in a U.S. Open Cup match at Buck Shaw Stadium.

A crowd of 11,926 attended the game at Toyota Park.
