Finland, Austria win at Worlds

Ostrava, Czech Republic (SportsNetwork.com) - Joonas Donskoi recorded the winner in a shootout, enabling Finland to claim a 3-2 victory over Belarus on Monday in Group B action at the World Championships.

Donskoi and Teemu Hartikainen tallied in regulation for the Finns, with Pekka Rinne adding 23 saves. Finland wraps up the preliminary round against Russia on Tuesday.

Yevgeni Kovyrshin and Alexei Kalyuzhny lit the lamp and Vitali Koval made 23 saves in the setback. Belarus completes the prelims against Norway also on Tuesday.

In Prague, Konstantin Komarek's winner in the shootout enabled Austria to pull out a 3-2 decision over Germany in Group A action.

Germany's Patrick Reimer netted the tying score with two minutes left in regulation, while the Austrians had a potential game-winning marker disallowed with 13 seconds to play.

Austria wraps up preliminary round play on Tuesday against group-leading Canada.

Later action in Group A saw Sweden claim a 4-2 decision over upstart France, thanks to two goals from Filip Forsberg which helped the Tre Kronor recover from a 2-1 deficit.

Ziga Pance recorded the only score of the contest and Gasper Kroselj made 24 saves as Slovenia edged Denmark by a 1-0 count in Group B play.
