FINA, UK Anti-Doping agree to share data

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Swimming's world governing body and Britain's anti-doping agency have signed an agreement to share information on athlete's blood profiles before the London Olympics.

FINA and UK Anti-Doping will use information from the biological passport program that monitors changes in an athlete's blood profile that may indicate doping.

FINA President Julio Maglione says "despite being an endless war, the available technology allows us to detect more efficiently the cheaters."

UKAD chief executive Andy Parkinson says "any athlete competing, training, or visiting the UK can expect to be tested at anytime, anywhere."

UKAD has signed similar agreements with the international cycling and athletics federations.
