Feldman's Heisman Top 5: Fournette running roughshod over competition

The Heisman picture is starting to take shape, and it is heavy on running backs -- but one front-runner has emerged.

1. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU: He's my clear No. 1. Fournette ran wild over Auburn, making Gus Malzahn's team pay for its midweek trash talk. The big speedster tricked Auburn for 228 yards. On the season in two games: 47 carries for 387 yards and six TDs -- and lots and lots of jaw-dropping highlights.

2. Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M: Had 3.5 sacks and 4 TFLs in a win over Nevada. Garrett regularly gets double-teamed and sometimes triple-teamed, but still makes plays. He's third on the Aggies in tackles with 16, to go with 6.5 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, 5 QB hurries and one forced fumble.

3. Nick Chubb, RB, UGA: The Dawgs rolled over a mediocre South Carolina team. Chubb now has 468 yards in three games and is averaging more than eight yards a carry.

4. Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame: The best big-play man in college football, Fuller turned in another huge receiving day with 131 yards on six catches.

5. Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State: Doesn't put up the gaudiest numbers, but few college QBs are as good at torching a defense that tries to pressure. Cook's 8-1 TD-INT ratio for a team with a legit claim for No. 1 at this point is a good argument to crack the top five.
