Federer crushes Goffin for another Basel title

Basel, Switzerland (SportsNetwork.com) - Roger Federer cruised past David Goffin on Sunday to capture his sixth title at the Swiss Indoors.

Federer, playing in the final of his hometown tournament for an 11th time, cruised past Belgium's Goffin 6-2, 6-2 to take home his 82nd career title.

Federer never struggled in this one, winning 81 percent of his first service points along with 75 percent of his second return points in winning his fifth title this year.

The Swiss icon, playing in his 123rd career final, also won in Dubai, Halle, Cincinnati and Shanghai. It was his first title here since 2011, as Juan Martin del Potro beat him in three sets the previous two times.

It was his 12th straight match victory as he hasn't tasted defeat since a semifinal loss to eventual champion Marin Cilic at the U.S. Open.

This was the second meeting between these two. The last was in the fourth- round of the 2012 French Open, where Federer rallied from a set down to win the match in four sets.
