Newly-promoted Eintracht remained perfect in the Bundesliga on Friday, as Erwin Hoffer and Takashi Inui scored in a 2-1 win over Nurnberg.
Hoffer started the scoring in the 25th minute and Inui doubled the lead in the 60th, and Eintracht held off previously unbeaten Nurnberg despite a goal from Sebastian Polter 14 minutes from time.
Eintracht finished 17th in the Bundesliga two seasons ago, but returned to the top flight after one season in the Bundesliga 2, and has impressed through its first four matches.
With its fourth win from as many matches, Eintracht sits alone atop the table. Bayern Munich is also perfect after three matches and will try to maintain its perfect start Saturday at Schalke.
Bayern has won its first three league matches and outscored opponents, 12-2, and opened Champions League play with a 2-1 win over Valencia on Wednesday. In all competitions, Bayern has won all six of its matches.
Franck Ribery is a doubt for this weekend's league match after departing the match against Valencia at halftime, and David Alaba returned to practice late this week but is still sidelined along with Mario Gomez.
Bayern has played well without some of its top players, as offseason additions Mario Mandzukic and Javi Martinez have quickly stepped into important roles.
Schalke is also off to a good start with two wins and a tie in league play, as well as a 2-1 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored the match-winner against Olympiacos, but could miss the match against Bayern with an injury. He led the Bundesliga with 29 goals last season.
"It'll be the toughest task we've undertaken so far," said Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes.
Two-time defending Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund visits Hamburg on the heels of a 1-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League.
Also Saturday, Dusseldorf hosts Freiburg, Mainz hosts Augsburg, and Wolfsburg hosts Greuther Furth. On Sunday, Bayer Leverkusen hosts Monchengladbach, Hoffenheim hosts Hannover, and Werder Bremen hosts Stuttgart.
