Duke promotes Capel, Scheyer after Wojciechowski's departure to become Marquette's head coach

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

Duke has promoted assistant Jeff Capel to associate head coach and Jon Scheyer to assistant coach under Mike Krzyzewski.

The changes come after the departure of longtime assistant Steve Wojciechowski, who is now head coach at Marquette. Wojciechowski, a former Blue Devils player, had spent 15 seasons on the Duke bench and had served as associate head coach since 2008.

Capel had been head coach at VCU and Oklahoma before spending the past three seasons as an assistant under Krzyzewski at his alma mater. Scheyer spent last year as a special assistant and was a key scorer on the 2010 NCAA championship team, Coach K's fourth title with the Blue Devils.

Krzyzewski's staff now consists of three former Blue Devils captains, including assistant Nate James.
