Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Alex Guerrero has been taken into surgery after part of his ear was bitten off by teammate Miguel Olivo during their Triple-A game on Tuesday, according to reports.

According to Guerrero's agent Scott Boras, who informed Fox Sports of the incident, Olivo first punched Guerrero during an altercation, then part of the ear was "displaced by a bite."

Boras also said that Guerrero was immediately taken to a plastic surgeon in an attempt to fix the ear.

Guerrero, who signed a four-year contract worth $28 million with the Dodgers in the offseason after defecting from Cuba, is batting .376 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI for the Albuquerque Isotopes this season.

The recovery timetable is uncertain at this time.
