Published November 20, 2014

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton left Tuesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Miami Marlins in the first inning with a tight left hamstring.

He appeared to suffer the injury while running the bases after hitting a two- run single. Upton also scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Wheeler later in the frame before being replaced in the second inning by Gerardo Parra.

In 113 games this season for the D-backs, Upton is hitting .271 with nine home runs and 47 RBI.

In other team news, the Diamondbacks will call up pitching prospect Tyler Skaggs to start the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Marlins.

In nine starts at Triple-A Reno this season, Skaggs boasted a 2.91 earned run average with 45 strikeouts.
