The Detroit Lions will honor Hall of Fame tight end Charlie Sanders by wearing a decal on their helmets during the 2015 season, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Sanders, who passed away earlier this month, was a Lion for life.

First, as a player from 1968-1977, Sanders produced tremendous pass-catching figures, finishing his career with 336 receptions for 4,817 yards and 31 touchdowns. He made seven Pro Bowls during his 10-year career and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

After retiring from the playing field, Sanders entered radio broadcasting and did color commentary for Lions games (1983-1988, 1997). From there, he joined the Lions coaching staff (wide receivers coach, 1989-1996) and, later, the front office (scout, 1998-1999; assistant director of pro personnel, 2000-2015). He was always charitable and very active in the Detroit community.

Sanders was 68 years old when he lost his battle with cancer on July 2.
