Derry signs one-year extension with QPR

QPR signed midfielder Shaun Derry to a one- year contract extension Tuesday, keeping him with the London club through the summer of 2013.

Derry, 33, helped QPR capture the English Championship last season to earn the side promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.

"I'm absolutely chuffed to bits," Derry said on QPR's website. "The stage the club is at with the new owners and the caliber of players we're attracting to the football club is something special and I'm just delighted to be part of it."

QPR also acquired fullback Armand Traore from London rival Arsenal on Tuesday, and signed the 21-year-old to a three-year contract.
