Debuchy set to consider his Arsenal future in January

Mathieu Debuchy says he is "trying to stay strong" despite being demoted to back-up at Arsenal, and that he may consider his future in January.

Signed for over £12million from Newcastle in the summer of 2014, Debuchy was considered as Arsenal's first choice right-back heading into last season, but suffered a couple of injuries and lost his place to Hector Bellerin.

Bellerin started this season as the number one right-back after impressing in the latter half of last season, but the Spaniard suffered an injury to himself which has facilitated Debuchy's return.

The Frenchman has played in two Premier League, Champions League and Capital One Cup games apiece, with the Gunners losing four, winning one and conceding 14 goals over those fixtures.

Bellerin is likely to reprise his role in the starting XI upon his return, and Debuchy is open to the idea of considering his Emirates Stadium future in January.

"I am dealing with it," Debuchy told Canal Plus of his struggles to hold down a regular place.

"I am trying to stay strong. We are going to remain concentrated until December, after that I will see."

Debuchy has attracted interest from Roma recently, and France head coach Didier Deschamps hinted that the 30-year-old may need to move to prolong his international career.

"Mathieu Debuchy is in a position where he is playing very little, when he does play, look at yesterday's result," Deschamps said after Debuchy started Arsenal's 5-1 mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich.

"He has a decision to make in December or January. He hasn't lost his quality, he's playing very little."
