Danica Patrick attempts to wreck David Gilliland, spins instead

Danica Patrick was having a rough outing Sunday at Martinsville Speedway, but when she attempted to get some retaliation against David Gilliland, the day went from bad to worse.

Running multiple lap downs after multiple on-track incidents, Patrick drove into the Turn 3 and tried to make contact with Gilliland's No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford. Gilliland was able to keep the car under him, as he and Patrick drifted up the corner and close to the wall.

Patrick's No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet made contact with the outside wall and then spun at the exit of Turn 4 to bring out the 13th caution of the day.

After the caution was thrown, Patrick sped down the front straightaway and drove hard into the back of Gilliland's Ford. The contact heavily damaged the hood, nose and right front fender of Patrick's car. She immediately took the car behind the wall and walked away with no comment.

The pair was involved in an incident earlier in the day, and Patrick vowed over the team radio to pay Gilliland back. When she got there, it did not exactly as planned.

Patrick finished the day behind the wall in 40th, while Gilliland finished 24th, two laps down.
