D.C., Portland match postponed

D.C. United's home match Saturday against the Portland Timbers was postponed Friday due to severe weather expected from Hurricane Irene.

The match was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (ET), but was moved up to 2 p.m. (ET) on Thursday. Citing general public safety concerns, the match was then postponed Friday.

The game will be rescheduled and the new date and time will be announced next week.

MLS previously postponed Sunday's matches between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Red Bull New York and the New England Revolution and the Philadelphia Union.
