Crockett, North Dakota State pull away late, beat South Dakota State 37-17

John Crockett rushed for 152 yards with two touchdowns and unbeaten North Dakota State surged late to defeat South Dakota State 37-17 on Saturday.

The Bison earned their 33rd straight win and 18th straight Missouri Valley Conference victory. Carson Wentz threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Vaadeland to assume the lead in the third quarter and also scored on a 5-yard run.

Zach Zenner's 1-yard run pulled the Jackrabbits within 3 with 12:04 remaining, but North Dakota State (9-0, 5-0) pulled away with Crockett's two touchdowns and Adam Keller's third field goal.

Wentz threw for 115 yards and rushed 16 times for 100 yards.

Zenner had 96 yards on 17 carries. Austin Sumner threw for 187 yards with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jake Wieneke to lead 10-6 at half. The Jackrabbits' (5-4, 2-3) final three drives ended in an interception, a fumble and a turnover on downs.
